Just clearing out some thoughts while sitting under the mango tree…….

Pedro Martinez returns to Fenway this week as part of a Mets team that has a serious chance to win it all. Where are all the sports radio nitwits who said if Pedro left it was all about the money and he’d never win again?

Let’s all remember that Pedro’s leaving town was Larry Luchino’s doing, ’cause we sure wouldn’t want Wonder Boy Theo to take the rap. Remember, anything Theo does is good, anything Larry does is bad….

Just wondering, but if new Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli hops up on stage with Fuel when they come to town next year, will the local fandom find it as cutesy as when Theo played with Pearl Jam? Probably not, people actually hold Bruins management responsible for their mistakes.

You know you’ve reached special status when a group of local basement dwellers actually has a contest to try to write like you. Too bad most of them can’t read, nevermind write.

It should be interesting to see how Pedro interacts with the local knights of the keyboard. One thing is certain, his act wouldn’t play too long if old friend Will McDonough were still with us. Will taught Ray Clayborn a lesson, Pedro is no Ray Clayborn.

Pedro’s return will surely bring out the in-crowd to see his game. All the who’s who around Boston should be in the stands for the big game. Be sure to take a look over at section 21 and notice the smile on the face of Dan Duquette, without whom there would be no great return for Pedro

With all the must-see celebrities in attendance tonight, here’s hoping Aramark has stocked up on Grey Poupon

Idle thought…when he makes his once a year visit to Fenway, will Krafty Bob bring along his stopwatch, or will he have his own juggs gun to time Pedro’s pitches?

Of course, when it’s time for the “in crowd” to make their annual visit to Fenway to make sure they’re seen on tv, that bumps the poor working stiffs in the media from their usual vantage points. Looks like we’ll be sitting in the nosebleeds again. Makes me happy I’ve never had to pay for a ticket.

It says here that Pedro’s return for the Mets is a bigger deal than any return Roger Clemens would have made pitching for the home nine. Pedro had a real connection with the fans in Boston while Clemens thought he was too good for the fans. Unless they wanted to buy some of wife Debbie’s tawdry internet merchandise.

The best thing about Pedro’s return is that I got to write this column on a snowy day in December and just throw it in a drawer until now.

There will only be one clear winner in tonights great Pedro-fest………ME. If Pedro gets rocked by the Sox, I will proclaim how right I was that he’s done and is just pumping up his stats in the woeful National League. If Pedro dominates, clearly Boy Theo has put together a team that wilts when it faces good pitching and even a fallen star can beat them. Either way, I get to explain to everyone just how great I am.

Wonder if Boy Theo has thought of signing Nelson de la Rosa to pinch hit tonight…….

This pissed me off so much I actually thought for a moment “I’m sending CHB an email!”, until I remembered this was not CHB.

    Excellent job.
